Well, the pretty snow has flown and so have the frigid temperatures; today was in the fifties with pouring, pouring rain all the day long. Bill Bryson's The Road to Little Dribbling is keeping me amused. There aren't many books that can make you laugh out loud.
Hi Lisa!
ReplyDeleteLovely shot.
Your book sounds lovely. I have been reading Jan Karon's series. Been laughing out loud myself. So good for the soul.

Hi, Kimmie! I wouldn't describe Bill Bryson's work as lovely - he has a way of looking at things that's fresh (in more ways than one!), and just hilarious. I've just been thinking to get back to Jan Karon's series, which I have partly read a while back. Too many books, too little time! :)
DeleteSnow or no snow, I still love the photo!!
ReplyDeleteI've never read any Bill Bryson, although I have one of his book (A Walk in the Woods) on my bookshelf. And like Kimmie says, *So many books and so little time...*
Another 'funny' travel writer is Chris Stewart. I read his Driving Over Lemons a few years ago, and have his A Parrot in the Pepper Tree from the library at the moment, but... (see * above).
The Traveller quotes him as "...genuinely funnier than Bill Bryson". Might be worth a look.
Sound like you've found a lovely way to while away the hours. xx
Funnier than Bill Bryson! Well, I think that's saying somethin'.
DeleteI have read a few Bill Bryson books but not 'The Road to Little Dribbling'. Sounds like I'm missing out on some fun!
ReplyDeleteIt's this one and his first about living in England that I've had my eye on, but this one appeared first. I'll read the other next. He's written on so many subjects, he doesn't fit into any preconceived niche.
DeleteHi, Lisa! We've had no snow in January, though a chance is in the forecast for next week! Lots of rain! We're already over our average rainfall totals for this month!
ReplyDeleteHi, Nellie! I hope you do get a bit of snow; we may get another small snow on Wednesday.
DeleteLittle Dribbling does sound like the right book to read on a rainy day - though maybe you'd prefer Heavy Dousing about now.
ReplyDeleteHA!
