real life

"The great thing, if one can, is to stop regarding all the unpleasant things as interruptions of one's 'own', or 'real' life. The truth is of course that what one calls the interruptions are precisely one's real life - the life God is sending one day by day; what one calls one's 'real life' is a phantom of one's own imagination."

                                                       -  C.S. Lewis

  1. This is a comfort of sorts. Lewis tells us that life has its ups and downs and isn't meant to be perfect. Perfection is heaven and we aren't there yet. However, I don't quite like the idea of God *sending* us these interruptions, almost as if He is trying to trip us up. I prefer the idea of God watching over us lovingly as we deal with all the problems life gives us. We (through Adam) chose to separate ourselves from God and use our free will rather than obey Him in everything. We have changed God's world from the perfection of the Garden of Eden to one that is still beautiful but also includes pain and suffering.
