Oh, the rain we've been having. And yesterday it was so cool and damp I actually shut all the windows and turned the heat back up. But I didn't hear it come on, so I used the oven twice, ironed, and made a thick soup for my supper, all the help to warm up the place
Later, the sun came out!
The trees are well past blooming, but now the azalea
and the bridal wreath, are having their turns.
My bed is waiting cool and fresh, with linen smooth and fair,
And I must off to sleepsin-by, and not forget my prayer.
But slumber hold me tightly till I waken in the dawn,
And hear the thrushes singing in the lilacs round the lawn.

The American Robin is of the thrush family, but we don't have lilacs in our lawn.
Beautiful! We've currently got some very warm weather here in the UK, but rain on the way, briefly.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nikki. I hope it isn't too warm there! Just because we seem to miss out on spring, doesn't mean you have to!
DeleteI've been doing similarly -- open the windows, get too cold, shut everything and turn on the furnace.... I remember my grandma used to run the furnace every morning in the summer, and then by midday she had the windows wide open. And she was younger than I am now, at the time, in a similar climate. I must be an old lady!
ReplyDeleteOh, but you won't be doing that in full summer, Gretchen! (hopefully)
