I'm reading The Man Who Was Thursday, by G.K. Chesterton. Our main character is in a dangerous situation, but thought he was quite alone, only to discover he has an ally, after all.
"It may be conceded to the mathematicians that four is twice two. But two is not twice one; two is two thousand times one. That is why, in spite of a hundred disadvantages, the world will always return to monogamy."
I read this with a book club once... it is quite fascinating, I do remember that! I hope you will share more about it.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading it along with a podcast, and over three episodes. But I'm finding it hard to stop and wait for the next episode before continuing. I could go ahead, but I won't.
DeleteI also enjoyed this book when I read it a few years ago. I would also recommend Manalive, if you haven't already read it.
ReplyDeleteI just commented but I was anonymous for some reason! :D
ReplyDeleteWell, I'll respond to the real Clare, not the anonymous one! :D I haven't read Manalive, but he had such an interesting mind, and joyful faith that I'd be interested to read anything of his.
DeleteLisa, have you read his Father Brown stories?
DeleteI think I may have read one, Gretchen. I do like Chesterton's way of thinking, even though I can't always grasp it. It's nice to know there are books out there to read which will be edifying and entertaining, when I can get to them. :)
