harvesting the basil

I had almost entirely forgot about the basil, and last night's temperatures in the twenties almost did it in.

    Poor basil! Do you manage to keep basil plants through the winter or do you start afresh with new ones each year?

    Clare, I don't have a good place in the house for any kind of plant, really. Not to mention what the cats might do to it. I just cut this one off at ground level and am drying it all. The house smelled great yesterday!

    I bet it did! I have never kept basil over the winter and just wondered if you had - now I know! :)
