the quilt comes together

I originally began making this quilt because my knee was causing me a lot of doctor visits, x-rays, etc; I suddenly felt I needed a project. I began it, and then dropped it after having my wisdom teeth out - I was doing lot of reading then and didn't feel like sewing.

Now I've returned to it, and I have to say that as imperfect as it is, it's better than I thought it would be.

It's draped over my chair here. It was hard to get the colors right - the gold is warmer. Still, it's happening!

  1. It's lovely Lisa!

You are inspiring me to get back to some quilting. I picked up a quilting hoop at the op shop during the week for a couple of dollars, so I've got no excuse now...unless I can think of another one :)) xx

    1. Lynda, it's not like you're sitting around wasting time. ;-) You are very productive, it seems to me. :D

    2. Yes...but mostly knitting and crocheting (even though I should be mowing the lawns!), and I'd like to get back to some quilting, and actually make some calico dolls with the patterns I cut out recently, and I think I'd like to make some small teddy bears... (sigh!) xx

  2. Your quilt looks really good, Lisa! And what a lot of health problems you've had recently!

  3. Wisdom teeth removed? Visiting the doctor because of your knee? How are you feeling at this point? The quilt is an amazing project! I've never tried quilting on my own!

    1. My knee has arthritis, Nellie. It is somewhat better. It took a while for everyone to figure that out - they also found a Baker's cyst behind the knee. That might be gone already; it was a small one. Old age. :D

  5. Wow! You should be proud! Making a quilt, coming to the end of the project and seeing the finished creation that is so much bigger than the design or the parts, I think the most wonderful thing. I have rarely done it ;-)

    1. Oh, I'm just finishing up with squares, Gretchen - then I need to decided if I want to add a sashing to make it larger. Then, the back and batting, then I have to quilt it. It'll be a while yet. :)
