We got this new book at the library about using straight needles to knit your socks. The author has invented a special way of doing this for those who have a hard time with multiple needles. I've gotten over that issue but it looks interesting all the same, and I have some Wool-Ease I want to use up. I did the gauge yesterday, and cast on today; we'll see how it goes.

Hi Lisa,
ReplyDeleteI've been reading your blog for awhile and always enjoy my visits. Thanks for mentioning this book. Sounds interesting and I'll have to see if my library has it. I've never knitted socks but have yarn and a pattern to make a pair on 4 needles but now I'd like to try knitting a pair on 2 needles as well. So much yarn not enough time! :0)
Thank you, Sandra.
Deletelovely... I am hoping to do my first socks soon! my my Oma's knitting book on size 1 DPNs... :) :) woolease is a great yarn in my opinion!!
ReplyDeleteI have never ventured into sock knitting, but a sock made with straight needles? it must require a seam either in the front or the back :) m.
ReplyDeleteThe seam placements on these socks (she has several patterns) are all artistically arranged. She gave this much thought.
DeleteNow this sounds interesting! I'll have to see if our library has it. I've always done my socks on 4 double points. I would think 2 straights would go a little faster.
ReplyDelete:-)
Hi Lisa - I gave you a blogging award today!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI'll have to take a look at that book. Are the socks knit flat and then seamed?
ReplyDeleteYes, and the seams are on the upper, outer sides of the feet. We'll see how I do.
