I was alarmed one day to see a rabbit out my window, with something around its neck. That was disturbing; had someone tried to put a collar on it? Had it gotten tangled in something? If so, we'd never be able to catch a wild rabbit to help it out.
It looked loose, but was it all the way around? It almost looks like a bow, doesn't it?
This is very fuzzy, but you can just see it on his other side but not on both! Well, that was a relief! A piece of yarn stuck to the fur, maybe.
We often find tufts of rabbit fur like those tufts round your rabbit's neck on the grass in our garden. When they fight their fur gets pulled out in tufts, so that might be what has happened. It also might be moulting and it might have had a good scratch and pulled the fur out itself. Who knows!? :D
ReplyDeleteOh, maybe that's what it is, Clare! I don't think of these mild looking creatures as fighting, but I know they're not as mild as they appear - I did read they sometimes kill their young! A brutal race. But, yeah, that may be it. :)
