our dearest girl

Last week Dolly's doctor told us she has a tumor on her bladder, most likely cancerous. He gave her a pain med, which is frankly doing wonders - she seems very comfortable with it. But she might not last more than a year.

So she's not immortal, after all.    I'm sure I thought she was.

  1. Heartbreaking news. I am so sorry for you and Dolly. Here's hoping the medicine continues to help her feel better for as long as possible at this time.

  2. I am so sorry to read this news, Lisa! Poor you and Dolly, though I'm pleased the medication seems to be working well.
I apologise for not visiting your blog for ages; so much has been happening that by the time the evening comes I have no energy for going on-line. Also my lap-top has been misbehaving itself - it is so slow!! - and we think it might be time for me to get a new one. I might be more enthusiastic about blogging and reading posts if it didn't take ages to do everything. :D

    1. Clare, I'm glad to hear from you! I figured there were probably several reasons for your absence. Yes, the medication is for pain, but it's also anti-inflammatory and has some slight sedative action. But she just seems more like the old Dolly, when she was younger and felt better, so that's good. He said it would probably slow down the growth of the tumor and maybe even shrink it a little. But we will see. One day at a time.
      I have missed you! :)

    2. Thank you, Lisa; I've missed you too! The medication for our loved pets is so good these days! I would say it is just as good as our human medication and this is something I would never have thought possible even just a few years ago. Thanks be to God. :)
