eat your spinach

I lately picked up a Gladys Taber book, which is what you do when all around you seems to be falling apart.

"Somehow I feel it is a tradition with children not to like spinach, and I wonder when it started. The dislike seems to go from one generation to the next, spurred no doubt by parents who say it is so good for you. I think if parents would say, 'You are not old enough to eat this', the story might be different."

    1. :) No, Elizabeth, I was thinking of the insanity in our leaders and media. But, thanks for your concern. xo

  2. I hope you find comfort soon, Lisa. I have again been advised to stop going out except for doctor's/hospital appointments and exercise. I just can't do that again! It made me so ill and unhappy in the summer! I will have to go against advice and help with the shopping and look after my mother and try to be extra-specially careful.
Spinach. I like it in quiches and tarts and mixed with other vegetables but eaten on its own makes my mouth so dry! And there is always the danger of green teeth! It does have a strong flavour which many children (and adults) don't like. Gladys Tauber was a very sensible and clever woman! My mother got us to eat and love Brussels sprouts by calling them fairy cabbages! The growers are producing much sweeter and sometimes almost tasteless green vegetables these days.

    1. Fairy cabbages! I love your mother! How delightful.
One finds comfort where one can, Clare. :D And then there's always the distraction of a young cat who is currently trying to take down a painting I paid three hundred dollars for, in between removing balls of yarn from a bag I have artfully hung on a chair in the hallway. They say insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results; it just occurred to me I must be insane because I just keep putting the skeins back in the bag! LOL

  3. I think we all do that at some time or another especially when animals or children are involved! I have just realised I spelt Gladys Taber's name incorrectly in my first comment! Fool that I am!

  4. Ha! Well, that's certainly worth a shot! I mean, so much comes down to proper incentivizing! Ha! Thanks, Lisa. Be well. <3
