patience and a thimble

I'm slowly working on my floral top. I had almost forgotten how tightly woven that sheet fabric is; I basted the bias to the neckline with great difficulty, and will probably have to use a thimble when I sew it.

I guess I'll also have to use patience.

  1. I hope it doesn't take too long to do. I find I'm never quite so neat when I have to use a thimble - it seems to get in the way. My mother was for ever scolding me for not using one! :D

    1. Clare, this top would take most women an hour to make, at most. But me, no. :D I do these things a little at a time, and the next step is pressing the bias binding several times, with moisture, to get it to lay flat. That has to wait for a day off, with the iron. As for the thimble, I hope I can manage it without too much clumsiness!

  2. That is pretty! You are right about the sheet fabric!! Lisa, a blogging question. Are you encountering issues with Blogger and the new format when making posts?

    1. Jenny, I don't think I'm having much trouble. It seems to load slowly when I come to my blog page: the stuff on the right hand side doesn't show up right away. And replying to a comment takes a moment, it seems. I keep wondering if I should choose a newer template - it's all so much bother! Are you having problems?

    2. Well, Jenny, the reason I wasn't having problems is because I haven't posted since Sunday - I'm trying presently to type a poem and it's giving me double spacing, and no place to correct that as far as I can see. So, yeah, I'm having trouble!
