Oh, May 1st and it was around seventy today - tomorrow, eighty five! The warmth just changes everything; after work I decided to wash my winter gloves - not the hand warmers, mind, I used a pair this morning - but the gloves. I didn't tell myself
don't bother, you've been working all day, you've done enough. Spring is in the air and I wanted to get it done.
Now they're drying on a towel in the spare room. Yesterday I put away my tights, tying each in a knot and storing them in a tote bag. I feel like I'm getting somewhere.
I hope your spring weather continues. It was a lovely autumn day here and I worked in the garden. Also getting somewhere...slowly. xx
ReplyDeleteTossing my tights is the highlight of my winter to spring wardrobe change. Enjoy your spring cleaning!!
ReplyDeleteTossing one's tights - that has such a ring to it!
DeleteNow that is the difference between where you live and where I do. There is no way that I would put my tights away. There are plenty of days when I don't wear tights and couldn't wear them because of the heat but.... there are many days in summer when I'm glad of a pair of tights - and thick socks!
ReplyDeleteClare, it occurred to me that when you say "tights" you're meaning pantyhose - is that right? I never put mine away, in case, although I don't tend to wear them from May to October. (actually, I think we had a cold spell last July when I had to wear them, which was awful - it may have been the year before) But my opaque stockings are just too heavy now, except I am still wearing some footless ones with my sandals - I have a definite weakness for colored tights, and Gudrun Sjoden has them in many great colors. They call the footless ones leggings, but they're really not - no seams and lighter weight than leggings. I love them. But - thick socks in summer! Poor Clare! I wouldn't like that. But you probably wouldn't like the heat and humidity we have in summers here sometimes.
DeleteToday it may have reached ninety - I was at work, but we're having a few days in the 70s and 80s which is so lovely!
Yes, I did mean pantyhose but that also includes the thicker opaque ones (thick tights and thin tights) and no, I wouldn't like the heat and humidity! We do sometimes have days in the 80's and I love the heat as long as I don't need to work hard. Humidity I can't cope with, especially as it makes my joints ache. Today is 63 F and lovely and warm compared with the wet and cold we've had recently. :)
DeleteI have been feeling that Spring in the Air -- but I didn't give credit to the general springiness giving me a boost. You are right, more light, more warmth, more comfort when out of doors... it all helps SO MUCH.
