Val, I used this recipe http://www.countryliving.com/recipefinder/roasted-sausages-sweet-potato-white-bean-stew-recipe-clx1214 in Country Living this month. I used kielbasa for the sausage. It took longer than they said, and I knew it would - you can't cook rock-hard sweet potatoes that fast. And it wasn't easy to cut them, either! There might be a better way next time. It was good, though. (and I just realized I left out the vinegar!)
That sounds interesting. And I'll pass it on to my parents--It sounds like something they'd both like.
My subscription to CL ended awhile back, and I never renewed it. I prefer the issues from the 1980s but have had a subscription off and on since 2002-ish anyway. CL's photography is gorgeous, and their holiday issues are especially pretty.
Ah Val, this holiday issue would probably disappoint you. It definitely lacks something. I also like the magazine from the 80s, but even ten years ago it was much better than now. :(
Swiss Chard is so healthy and good for you! I am also experiencing a bit of a letdown with a couple of my favorite magazines - agree with the Country Living opinion. I had some favorites that are no longer included. One must move with the times, I suppose.
Oh, that's pretty. What did you make with it?
