time for crossing the desert

"If, as Herod, we fill our lives with things, and again with things; if we consider ourselves so unimportant that we must fill every moment of our lives with action, when will we have the time to make the long, slow journey across the desert as did the Magi? Or sit and watch the stars as did the shepherds? Or brood over the coming of the child as did Mary?"

  2. I read this quote several times, letting it sink in. "...if we consider ourselves so unimportant that we must fill every moment of our lives with action, when will we have the time to make the long slow journey across the desert as did the Magi?" - I am moved and will be pondering this a while. Thank you Lisa

    1. Kathy, in your case - how can you avoid being busy? We have to do our duty, and that will keep us very busy sometimes!

  4. Wonderful quote, Lisa! So appropriate for us to remember to leave room to enjoy the true reason for Christmas.
