Often on Ash Wednesday, you'll end up with a dark splotch on your forehead or maybe even a light one, but yesterday there was no mistake - I got a real cross.

"During Lent, we who are dust entrust ourselves to the healing care of the Lord who promises forgiveness and life to the dust he has made and loves."

  1. The only time I attended an Ash Wednesday service (with my late husband), it was a year in which Orthodox Lent was not to start for another few weeks, so it didn't make sense for me to get the ashes. I was sorry about that!

  2. That is a good one! I had a lovely dark cross a couple of years ago. This year I had a good clear down stroke but a very faint line across. :)
