the time is near

I had a birthday, and there was snow! That always makes it ten times better.

Winter has started early, which has been a topic of conversation around here every day, but it's going to be more temperate this week, and maybe up near sixty on Wednesday. The snow is melting, even as I type.

We sang People Look East this morning at church; I think I always mention this in December, but the melody, the lyrics, the sprightly and hopeful air it has -

People look East, the time is near
Of the crowning of the year.

I love to sing it.

I haven't done any cards yet, and it's practically two weeks away. We will what happens, and what doesn't.

From Isaiah 30:  ...the Lord will make the glory of his voice heard in the joy of your heart.

  1. Happy Birthday! I read your blog in a blog reader (feedly) so I rarely click over, but wanted to wish you a good day.

  2. I hope you had a happy birthday, Lisa. We had a little snow the week of Mum's funeral but since then it has been very windy and stormy. The leaves have gone from the trees and it's so gloomy. Apparently, the sun rose at 7.55am and set at 3.40pm today but we didn't see it at all! A little bit of snow would brighten things up a bit. I haven't written any cards yet either but I've written the list of names, which is a start!

    1. It was a very nice day, Clare, and thank you for the card - I did not expect you to be having time to think of birthday cards!
Your day is way shorter than ours! Sunrise here is about ten after 7, and sunset is twenty after 4.

  3. Only another ten days and we get to the shortest day, praise be!! :) I'm always grateful I don't live in the north of Scotland or in other northerly places like Norway, beautiful though they undoubtedly are.

  4. I thought I sent you belated birthday blessings in a comment here, but maybe I didn't. If I did (but you haven't' published it yet) you don't need to publish both, just pick the best one :)
And if I didn't... then I'm sending birthday wishes now, and I'm glad it was snowy and nice :) xx
