farewell, October

It was a lovely month, as it often is. We got to hear the October poem on the radio often. We're on Standard Time now, and the darkness makes you feel like you're really heading for winter.

"As October ends, the air begins to smell of windfalls that have been frosted. The leaves drift down, and most of the branches are bare. We see more sky. Night shuts down early. I miss the long summer twilights, when day seems to linger indefinitely. But the mornings have a sparkle, and I love to see the shadow of the house silver with frost when sun has melted the rest of the crystals on the lawn."

this morning

It's time to appreciate the beauties of November, which are many. I had a bout of covid (I think), but whatever it was, I'm left with a persistent cough. This is something I'm prone to after a cold or whatever, and it can last for weeks. I've been going to work, but not to church for the past two weeks, since I can't hold it back when my throat feels a tickle, and how can you sit in proximity to people in a quiet place like that?

It was really a blessing when I had the impetus to wash those windows, since I don't know when I can finish - it will be warm this week. We will see. How much should one force oneself?
