March in New England

Last Wednesday we had a big snowfall, ten inches.

Even though I am wanting spring to come, a snowfall is far prettier than mud. And it's been melting down steadily, considering we had a lot of rain the two weeks before and the ground is saturated. There was some green grass beginning to show on the edges.

But today we had another all-day snow.

By now, you've seen this view almost as much as I have, but -

there is something about a snow day - nobody went anywhere today - that makes time seem almost to stand still. On snow days I never get the urge to try and do a million things. I did just what I had to,  then finished up an old knitting project and planned a new sewing one.

In between tea and cocoa.

Still -  I hope it's gone by Easter.

  2. I feel just the same as you do--snow is so much prettier than mud, and snow days are special, stay-at-home, snuggle up with books and cocoa days, BUT there sure is a LOT of snow out there now, and spring officially begins next week. I'm going to put my flower wreath on the door on Tuesday no matter how much snow is still around.;)

    1. Elizabeth, by "finishing" the project - which was so old I had forgotten anything about it - I mean that I undid it and rolled the yarn back into a ball! It was a pair of boot cuffs and one was finished, but as I proceeded, I could tell there wasn't enough yarn left, so I just undid it. It's a chunky yarn and I thought I had the right yardage; guess not.

    2. The ability to undo and roll into a ball to start over or start something new HAS to be my favorite thing about knitting/crocheting.

    3. That is a good way of looking at it. :)

  4. That sounds like a quintessentially cozy, comfy winter day. Very hygge. How lovely.

  5. That sounds like the most perfect day! We have been forecast another very cold weekend with strong winds (40mph) from the east. They can't decide whether we'll have snow or not. It was such a beautiful day today! No rain, sunshine, 8 degrees centigrade and a drying breeze blowing.

  6. Well, that is a blessed effect of snow, to make one slow down. I read a quote recently, something to the effect of, "Life is short. Go slow." Maybe I read that here? ;-)
