little by little

A man came in the library today wearing a Santa hat. It was red, but he was not Santa.

I keep getting asked if I'm ready for Christmas, and surprisingly, I say that I'm doing pretty well. Wrapping one present here and there when I have time is working out well. The cards aren't done yet, but a few of those at a time, without getting too overworked about it, and I'm getting them out little by little, too. Even the cookies are being baked, a batch here, and a batch there. I am trying not to feel that I "must" do this or that; I am doing what I honestly can, and what I'm seeing is that right in front of me is what I should do next. It's a different way for me, and interesting. May it continue.

  1. You seem very calm so I am sure you will get everything done on time Lisa! I am gradually getting things done too but I'm not quite so calm! There still seems so much more to get done :o

    1. One may seem calm in a blog post, Clare! :D But I think what it boils down to is my definition of "on time" is changing. Christmas begins on Christmas, after all, not a month before, and to do some things afterward would be perfectly acceptable. I've been seeing that slowly, but more clearly as the years go by. :)

  2. I find that one of the few positives in getting older is the amount of experience in ordinary things I have. I can still get worried that I won't get things done on time but I also now know that it doesn't really matter much if I don't get through all my chores or complete all my preparations. Christmas begins on Christmas Day as you say!

    1. Yes; why does it take us so long to learn these important and worthwhile things?? :)

  3. Your approach seems eminently sensible. I cannot fathom why we give ourselves all the jobs that, for some strange reason, have to be completed by 25th December. Curiously, it seems to happen every year. Merry Christmas, Lisa, and a very happy New Year.
