for the birds

Trisha came by yesterday while I was out; she had made these seed-covered bagels with the story hour children, and she brought me some!  I hung them in the front trees, and now we're eager to see who will find them first.

  1. What a fantastic idea! I have never seen this done on a bagel, how cute!~

  2. We did this with pine cones as kids. I have never seen it done with bagels, but I bet the birds enjoy it! For an art project in college we decorated a Christmas tree for the birds on our campus. We strung berries and unsalted/unbuttered popcorn on string for garland and used the pine cone seed feeders for ornaments. I bet bagels would have added a nice touch, too, with different sized ornaments. And have the birds hit you up yet?

  3. Unfortunately, we had a great deal of rain two days after I hung them up - the one that I could see from the house got soggy, I guess, and fell down. Still, the seeds are not going to get waterlogged, so I assume they'll be found. Too bad, though.

She had put peanut butter on first, then the seeds.

    1. Hmmm...I guess that might happen. I hadn't thought of it though. So, maybe the pine cone is better after all. Either way, I am sure it get eaten!
