the mother of invention

For some reason, as we gathered our stuff for the trip, I grabbed my knitting, even knowing that I wouldn't have time for it at our destination. And I always get sick doing anything in the car. But for some reason, I was able to do some knitting in the car!

At the point where I put the thumb stitches onto a stitch holder, I realized I hadn't thought to bring one. What could I use?

The eyeglass cord from my magnifiers, looped through the stitches and tied in a knot!

  1. good thinking! I can't read in the car but I can knit; such a blessing! the neat tip I learned recently is when traveling by air and thus without sissors, bring a thing of dental floss and use the metal part that is used to take the floss off to cut the yarn; it works!

  2. Hi Lisa!

I am impressed by your ability to knit in a moving car. I am totally hopeless myself, as I get motions sick just by the thought of it! I can't fly without a motion sickness tablet, and I certainly can't do anything, like knitting or reading, in a car.

Thank you for your always so lovely comments in my blog. They are truly appreciated.

Thank you also for suggesting topics for me to write about. As for my gardening experience, I still do feel like a novice, and basically work on a 'trial and error' basis... with varying results and success, I might add. Come spring, though, I will most likely do more posts on gardening again.

    1. Mia, it's a surprise to me that you are a gardening novice - if you don't "feel" like an expert, you certainly know how to "look" like you are one! :D

  3. I thank you, ladies! I have never been able to knit, sew or read in the car, so I don't know what happened, but I hope it continues!
